On April 20, 2010, a tragedy occurred in the Gulf of Mexico. The explosion of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Rig took the lives of eleven men, including our dear friend, Jason Anderson. Jason was the devoted husband of Shelley Simons Anderson, loving father of Lacy and Ryver, and a wonderful friend to all who knew him. Spending time with family was Jason’s top priority when he was home from the rig. He also loved to play a round of golf with his friends. We have decided to honor his memory with an annual golf tournament. All proceeds from the Jason Anderson Memorial Golf Tournament will be placed in a scholarship fund that will benefit high school seniors in Matagorda County who plan on pursing a college degree in a petroleum-related field of study.
This year’s tournament will be held on Saturday, October 15 at Rio Colorado Golf Course in Bay City. The day will begin with team check-in at 7:00 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. Lunch will be served at the Pro Shop from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams.
